Our December gardens are at their best at
night, when guests wander through the wonderful Holiday Light displays
each evening, enjoying the festive atmosphere. Winter annuals are
planted throughout the display gardens; they include pansies, stock, and
dianthus. Late-season hummingbird food is available from the grevillea
hedge which blooms beside the
Gazebo Garden. Our gardeners have to
duck to avoid being dive-bombed by hummingbirds protecting their food
source. December is a time for renewing soil health throughout all
gardens, using compost and organic fertilizers while awaiting the rains
that will assure the success of our plantings in the coming year.
